- Juanita Mae Swafford
Services are scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at Terpening & Son Chapel for Juanita Mae Swafford of
Artesia.
Swafford, 82, died Friday, Aug. 15, at Artesia General Hospital. Burial will be at Woodbine Cemetery. Pallbearers will be her grandsons Ricky Swafford, Justin Swafford, Stuart Swafford, Joshua Grantham and Brandon Grantham and her nephews Charlie Holder and Jeff Holder.
Visitation will be at Terpening & Son Mortuary Monday beginning at 10 a.m.
Swafford was born June 12, 1926, in Kearney, Neb.; the daughter of Clarence Trivelpiece and Mildred
(Stoltnow) Trivelpiece. On Dec. 1, 1945, she was married to Henry Swafford in Kearney, Neb. She came to
Artesia in 1946 from Nebraska. He preceded her in death August 12, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marceline Lambert.
Swafford was a homemaker, a member of the First Baptist Church and the Hermosa P.T.A.
Survivors include her son Ricky Swafford and wife Christine of Artesia; daughters Kathy Grantham and husband Buddy of Artesia, Teresa Stegall and husband Mike of Artesia, and Brenda Lee and husband Michael of Albuquerque.; sisters Velma Grassmeyer of Wichita, Kan., and Joan Heinricy of California; brother-in-law Bill Swafford of Artesia; aunt Olive Cleland of Kearney;
eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Services are under the direction of Terpening & Son Mortuary.
